Manitowac, WI – The Tigers volleyball squad traveled to the Badger State this weekend to face Silver Lake College and Maranatha Baptist University.
Grace would make quick work of the host Silver Lake College Lakers in the first set, winning 25-9. The second set was much more competitive, but the Tigers still came out on top 25-22. They would coast to a 25-14 third set victory for the three game sweep to kick off the tri-match.
Maranatha, currently the #3 team in the NCCAA DII Top 10, has been a powerhouse in the NCCAA for the past decade, and this year is no exception. The Tigers were not able to put together their 'A' game as needed to top the Sabercats, falling in three straight sets.
"We were able to walk away this weekend with a victory and a few lessons learned," said Assistant Coach Emily Brown. "Despite the second match loss, we feel it's good to play against national-caliber competition to challenge us as we prepare for future post-season matches. We are looking forward to our Homecoming matches this weekend where we will hopefully put the lessons we learned to good use!"
After the weekend the Tigers remain at .500 at 7-7. Their annual homecoming quad takes place this upcoming Friday and Saturday at the Aldrich Athletic Center, with their first match taking place at 6 pm against Alpena CC.
