Grayson, KY – The Grace Christian University women's basketball team opened some eyes this past weekend with some great results at the Kentucky Christian University Super 8 Classic. In their first game they defeated the host Knights on their home floor for the first time in school history. The second game they defeated Johnson University-Tennessee, who is currently ranked #7 in the NCCAA DII. The third game the Tigers ran into somewhat of a buzz saw against the mighty-talented Hiwassee College Tigers, falling 88-58 to finish the weekend 2-1.
Head Coach C.B. Long reflected upon a weekend that despite the loss in the third game, showed the team making strides and pointed to them being serious contenders in the NCCAA.
"Our team has been faced with obstacles almost every day. Overcoming those and marching toward our goal was evident this weekend. Having beat a team on their home floor for the first time in school history who was last year's NCCAA runner-up. Then beating the #7 team in NCCAA DII. We are starting to discover who we are. And confidence of who we will become is still in front of us. I'm proud that each lady has overcome and advanced. We are women of strength. In the battle. Overcoming obstacles. And we are doing it all for Him!"
The Tigers move to 5-8 heading into a match-up with Glen Oaks Community College at home on Wednesday at 5:00 pm.
