Kissimmee, FL – The NCCAA DII #1 Grace Christian University Tigers finished the Johnson University Florida 3-0 after wins over the host school on Friday and NAIA University of Bahamas on Saturday.
Friday night resulted in a 77-69 win over tournament host Johnson University. The Suns proved to be a scrappy and worthy opponent and it wasn't until the last three minutes that the Tigers were able to establish a comfortable margin for the win. The Tigers got balanced scoring with five players in double figures led by junior Adam Kregel with 15 points. Brandon Winchester-Jones and Austin Jackson had 13 points apiece and Bernard Smith and Grant Garrison added 12 each.
The Tigers captured an early lead and never looked back against the University of the Bahamas on Saturday night, winning 93-69 with all sixteen players that dressed seeing the floor for significant minutes. Brandon Winchester-Jones once again led the scoring with 14 points and Bernard Smith continued his reliable rebounding with 11 boards to go along with 12 points. Winchester-Jones and Smith were selected to the All-Tournament Team and Winchester-Jones was named tournament Most Valuable Player.
With the three wins, the Tiger record moves to 14-7. Grace is back in action on Wednesday, January 16 at 1 pm for a Mideast Region showdown with #3 nationally ranked Great Lakes Christian College at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
