Wyoming, MI – It was a game of spurts for the Grace Tigers Monday evening at the Aldrich Athletic Center, and a strong first and third quarter was not enough to overcome NAIA Trinity International University who eventually escaped with a 60-50 road win.
The Tigers jumped out to a quick lead, but Trinity stormed ahead to develop a 38-25 halftime advantage. Grace would trim things down in the third quarter and early in the fourth, but could not get over the hump though they found themselves within a couple possessions on multiple occasions. Missed open shots and turnovers would turn out to be the difference in the game, though the Tigers battled until the very end.
Megan George led the Tigers in scoring for the third straight game, totaling 19 points.
Miranda Carlson stuffed the stat sheet with 10 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and 4 steals.
Ashley Hoek had 11 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
The Tigers are now 6-12 heading into a match-up on the other side of town against Aquinas College this Saturday. Injuries in the backcourt that have hampered the Tigers thus far this season will be lightened little bit when that time comes, as guards
Angel Murphy and
Allazae Lloyd take the court in their first game of the year.
