Grand Rapids, MI – It was a rollercoaster of a game for Grace Christian University over the weekend at Aquinas College, eventually falling 88-72.
A slow start would result in a quick 21-4 disadvantage, but a 32-12 run to finish the half from there on out gave them a 36-33 lead at the halftime break. The second half start from the Tigers would be similar to the first, with the Saints going on a 23-5 run to recapture the lead and extend it to 56-41 after just six minutes of action in the final period. Grace would once again battle back and cut the lead all the way to 6 points with 5 minutes remaining, but the Saints made some key plays down the stretch to come away with the home victory.
The Tigers were balanced in the scoring column, with Brandon Winchester-Jones finishing with 13 and Austin Jackson, Hank Schemmel, Jerome Cobb, and Kellum Bridgeforth all chipping in 10 points.
Next up for the Tigers after the Christmas holiday is Cornerstone University this Saturday, returning home to the Aldrich Athletic Center. Tip-off is at 1:00 pm.
