Watertown, WI/Milwaukee, WI – The Grace Christian University women's soccer team enjoyed a successful weekend in Wisconsin, starting with a 2-0 win over NCCAA DII #4 Maranatha Baptist University on Friday night. The dynamic duo of Maddie Brown and Jennie Sue Pilieci each scored one goal for the Tigers, with Brown's assisted by Alicia Contreras. Regan Befus recorded 8 saves in the goal for the Tigers to record the clean sheet.
"We played a strong match at Maranatha and got our 1st ever win on their field," said Head Coach Scott Teesdale. "Our defense was solid and Regan Befus made a few nice saves while Jennie Sue Pilieci and Maddie Brown applied a lot of pressure in the attack. Alicia Contreras was great in the midfield and picked up a nice assist on our first goal."
On Saturday, the Tigers followed up with a dominant performance in a 7-0 win over NCAA DIII Mount Mary University. Regan Befus and Amiah Lake both spent a half in goal, teaming up with 3 total saves and the recorded shutout. Befus was able to score her first goal of the season in the second half after stepping out of the goalkeeper position. For the other 6 Tiger goals, Brown, Pilieci, and Ashley Glass all pitched in 2 apiece. Pilieci added 2 assists, while Contreras recorded an assist as well.
"Saturday against Mt. Mary we played well and kept a clean sheet for Regan and Amiah Lake in the net," said Teesdale. "Regan played in the field 2nd half and scored her first goal, and Ashley Glass had her first 2 goal game as a Tiger."
Grace now sits at 6-6 on the year as they await a match-up with Andrews University in Berrien Springs, MI. This upcoming Friday and Saturday they will have home games against Mount Mary University and Finlandia University, with the Finlandia game designated to celebrate a 2018 National Championship reunion.
