Wyoming, MI – The Grace College (IN) Lancers came to town Monday night, facing the Grace Christian University Tigers at the Aldrich Athletic Center in the 2020-21 season opener for both teams.

First game kinks were seen on both sides, as the teams combined for 61 turnovers and both shot less than 40% from the field. The game was far from absent of intensity, however, with both teams going on runs and a very back-and-forth game taking place in the first 25 minutes of play. The last 15 minutes were all Lancers, with the Indiana Grace squad finding their groove to move their lead to double-digits and extend it the rest of the game to result in an 87-60 victory.

Junior Ashley Hoek needed three blocks to surpass Jessica Sikorski (2008—12) in the Grace record books for the most in a career and she did that and more – recording 8 blocks in addition to 8 points and 8 rebounds. Junior Bre VanVleet had a team-high 14 points and 9 rebounds. Sophomore Bailey Fitzpatrick was the only other Tiger in double figures with 10 points on the night.

"We started out with some excitement with Ashley setting the school's block record with her 3rd block on the night," said Head Coach CB Long. "Overall it was a tough loss to a good team. Our ladies fought hard, but ran out of gas late. We are happy to be playing basketball again, and we look forward to getting better and playing more."

Next up for the Tigers is a regional match-up with Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg this Friday at the Aldrich Athletic Center at 5:00 pm.
