Adrian, MI – The Grace women's basketball team traveled to Siena Heights University for a tough test Monday afternoon, facing the 2020 NAIA National Tournament-qualifying Saints in their second game of the season.
The first half seemed to point to a very competitive game, with the Tigers finding themselves only down 32-28 with minutes left in the second period. At that point, the Saints put together a significant run to build a 54-35 lead at the halftime break, and the Tigers could not recover. The final score of the game ended Saints 99, Tigers 64.
"In a year riddled with obstacles, we are left with nothing more than a reason to battle," said Grace Head Coach
CB Long. "We battled last night but we did so against a very good Siena Heights team that was bigger, stronger, and faster, and in the end we took one on the chin. It was a good experience for the girls and we will be better because of it."
Megan George led the Tigers with 28 points.
"It was good to see her (Megan) put the ball in the basket," commented Coach Long. "She put the team on her back and carried us."
The Tigers return to action on their home court this Wednesday against Spring Arbor University at 7:00 pm.
