Wyoming, MI – The Tigers took on Maranatha Baptist University Saturday afternoon at Velting Field, and 110 minutes was not long enough to determine a victor. The two evenly-matched NCCAA DII opponents fought to a 3-3 tie, both teams remaining undefeated in NCCAA DII play.
Junior
Jennie Sue Pilieci put the Tigers on the scoreboard early on, breaking free for her fifth goal of the season to break the 0-0 tie.  Maranatha answered with 12 minutes remaining in the half, earning a penalty kick and connecting on it to equalize things at 1-1. A very well-placed strike by the Sabercats quickly thereafter gave them a 2-1 advantage that they would hold into the second half of play. Pilieci would strike again in the second half to even the game back at 2-2. The next five minutes were full of action, with the Sabercats scoring again two minutes later to take a lead before
Haley Pilka tied things right back up for the Tigers just minutes later at 3-3.
The two teams each had chances throughout the rest of regulation but could not connect, resulting in overtime, where both defenses remained steady and held strong for two more scoreless 10:00 periods.
Next up for the Tigers is Great Lakes Christian College next Wednesday at 4:00 pm at Velting Field. They will cap off a three-game home stretch with a game against Lincoln College next Saturday at 12:00 pm.
