Manhattan, KS – The Grace Christian University women's soccer team opened up their 2020 campaign Thursday with a dominant 6-0 win over NCCAA II opponent Manhattan Christian College.
Hannah Heyboer and
Haley Pilka both scored twice in their first action in the Tiger uniform, while
Jennie Sue Pilieci and
Alivia TerMeer both scored one goal in their season debut.  TerMeer also contributed two assists on the game.  Senior goalkeeper
Regan Befus had two saves to solidify the shutout.
The Tigers outshot the Thunder 41 to 4, with 25 of their attempts on goal.
"I'm happy for the girls to get a win today," commented Head Coach
Mike Riemersma. "They deserved it. I was really happy with the way we moved the ball, particularly in the second half. We have a long way to go but this was a good start for us to get those first game nerves out of the way and see how each other is going to compete in real game situation. I'm looking forward to seeing their growth throughout the season. We will enjoy this tonight and get back to work against Faith Baptist."
The Tigers face the Faith Baptist Bible College Eagles today at 3:00 pm ET in Ankeny, IA to close out their season-starting road trip.
