Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Tigers doomed by PK's in loss to Trine

Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University men's soccer team moves to 1-1 after falling 5-0 to a very good Trine University (NCAA III) team on Tuesday evening at Velting Field.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first half, the Tigers competed hard for the first 35 minutes of the second half and had a couple chances to cut the lead to one before allowing 3 more goals late to result in the 5-0 final. Sophomore goalkeeper Levi Pant did everything he could to keep the Tigers within striking distance, with all six of his saves being of the spectacular variety, including one diving save on a penalty kick.

Trine had 15 shots (11 on goal) compared to Grace's 7 (4 on goal), and they also had a significant advantage in corner kicks at 12-3. Three of the five Trine goals were a result of free kicks resulting from Grace penalties in or near the box.

Grace has 15 days until their third game of the season, which will also be their final home game of 2020, facing regional opponent Great Lakes Christian College at 4:00 pm on September 30.
