Harrodsburg, KY – The Grace Tigers took on their first opponent out of the NCCAA Mideast region Friday afternoon, facing Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg on the road. The Tigers offense had a lot of action and missed on a handful of opportunities, but put in 5 goals compared to 2 from the Pioneers to escape with the win and remain undefeated (3-0) in NCCAA play.
The Pioneer's goalkeeper Abby Steele did a great job of keeping them in the game, saving 14 of the Tigers' shots, while Grace keeper
Regan Befus recorded 10 saves of her own.
Jennie Sue Pilieci scored twice for the Tigers to get things going, with
Kylie Plichta adding two goals after corralling the ball after ensuing scrambles resulting corner kicks and
Aubrey Bristol scoring to extend things to 5-1 early in the second half. The Pioneers put in a late goal to result in the 5-2 final.

"I'm happy with the effort we put out today," said Grace Head Coach
Mike Riemersma. "You could tell early on that we hadn't played in 10 days. We were a little out of sorts early but started to put things together toward the latter part of the first half. I thought Megan [Crawford] had her best game this year and helped to settle the game down in the first half by taking away some pressure. After half we started to move the ball much better. This was a big win for us in the region for seeding purposes at the regional tournament. Our mentality is that road trips are business trips. The girls took care of business today and for that I am pleased. We will enjoy this one this weekend and then get back to work on Monday with some big games coming up for us in the next couple weeks."
Next up for the Tigers is NCCAA rival Maranatha Baptist University at Velting Field on Saturday, October 3
rd, which starts a string of three straight home matches after spending the majority of their time on the road to begin the season.
