Lansing, MI - It was rivalry Wednesday for the Grace Christian University men's basketball team, as they traveled across the state to face regional foe Great Lakes Christian College in their final NCCAA DII game before the regional tournament to be played later this month.
The first couple minutes of play passed with the Tigers holding a 4-0 lead, but from there on out in the first half it was all Crusaders, as they controlled the next 18 minutes of play to take a 49-25 lead into halftime. Grace would claw back in the second half to trim their deficit to only 10-points, but a couple turnovers and empty possessions at the 6:00 mark would give Great Lakes a comfortable lead that they would extend for the rest of the game, resulting in a 79-55 setback for the Tigers.
Spencer Grant led the Tigers with 14 points, followed by
Kierson Watts who was the only other Grace player in double figures with 12. Watts and
Kellum Bridgeforth both added 7 rebounds. The Tigers outrebounded the Crusaders, but committed 22 turnovers compared to only 8 from Great Lakes.
Next up for Grace is another road trip to Lincoln, Illinois, where they will face Lincoln Christian University (NAIA) on Saturday and Sunday at 1:00 pm.
