Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Tigers surrender late goal in neck-and-neck battle with Huntington University

Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University women's soccer team battled hard Tuesday evening against Huntington University, providing an enjoyable spectating experience for all who made their way to Velting Field. After over 80 minutes of scoreless play and multiple solid chances to score for each team, the Tigers surrendered the first and only goal of the game to the Foresters, resulting in a 1-0 defeat.

Amiah Lake had a spectacular game, recording a career-high 15 saves for the Tigers in the goal. Though ending up in the losing column is never the goal, Head Coach Mike Riemersma and staff were pleased with the effort they saw by their team as they went neck-and-neck against a tough NAIA opponent.

"I was really pleased with our effort today," said Riemersma. "Huntington is a very good team and we knew they would win the possession game so we had to collectively defend for ninety minutes. The girls did a great job of communicating and keeping their shape. I thought we were very effective with our counter attack and put them in some uncomfortable situations. I will take that effort all day any day."

Wednesday will be a travel day for the Tigers as they head south to North Carolina and Georgia to face Carolina University and Toccoa Falls College, with their first game in Winston-Salem, NC at 12:00 pm Thursday.
