Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University men's basketball team welcomed fellow NCCAA DII member Oak Hills Christian College (MN) to the Aldrich Athletic Center for the first time in program history Tuesday afternoon. The Tigers exploded for 40 points in the first 12 minutes of the game and built a 14 point lead, but would fall off a bit for the rest of the half resulting in a 46-46 tie at the halftime break.
The Wolfpack would hang tight for the first portion of the second half, but junior
Kellum Bridgeforth and the Tigers would close the game out strong for a 93-80 win in the end.
Bridgeforth, fresh off of NCCAA Student Athlete of the Week honors last week, led the Tigers with 29 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists, and shot an efficient 13-17 from the field.
Jarius Shumpert added 15 points, 8 rebounds, and a career-high 5 assists. The Tigers outrebounded the Wolfpack an astounding 48-23, led by 11 rebounds from
Kierson Watts.
The Tigers are back to over .500 on the season, sitting at 9-8 heading into three key regional games this weekend in Nashville, TN against Boyce College, Simmons College, and Welch College. Their first tip-off will be Thursday at 6:00 pm against Boyce.
