Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University women's basketball team improved to 11-7 Tuesday night after a hard-fought victory over regional rival Great Lakes Christian College at the Aldrich Athletic Center.
After the Tigers built a comfortable lead early, the Crusaders stormed back to bring the game to within one point at 37-36 at the halftime break. The beginning stages of the second half remained competitive but the Tigers' size advantage proved to be too much in the end for the Crusaders as they finished strong for an 84-68 win.
Ashley Hoek needed 5 rebounds to surpass the 1,000 career board milestone, and she did that and much more, pulling down 22 rebounds on the night in addition to 12 points, 6 assists, and 4 blocks. Freshman
Ashlyn Wilkes led the Tigers in the scoring column with 20.
Next up for Grace is a trip to Ohio on Saturday, where they will face NAIA Lourdes University.
