Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University women's basketball team defeated #4 seed Johnson University-Tennessee Friday afternoon by a score of 74-69 to advance to Saturday's Regional Championship game at 12:00 pm.
After going into the half knotted at 35-35 and playing each other neck-and-neck throughout the majority of the game, the Tigers found themselves down 66-65 with 6:00 remaining in the game. At this point, senior
Megan George scored two huge baskets and
Emily Libey knocked down a clutch three point shot to give the Tigers a 71-65 lead. A couple defensive stops and free throws would close out the game for the win.
Ashley Hoek led the Tigers in the scoring column with 17 points, while adding 7 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Taejah Cross filled the box score with 13 points, 7 rebounds, and a team-high 6 assists.
The Tigers await the result of the later game between #2 Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg and #3 Welch College to see who they will face in tomorrow's 2022 Mideast Regional Championship Game.
