Wyoming, MI – Saturday afternoon's 2022 Women's Basketball Mideast Regional Championship game produced a thrilling match-up between the #1 seeded Grace Christian Tigers and #2 Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg Pioneers.
In a second half where the lead never was above four points for either team, the Tigers captured possession of the ball with under 10 seconds remaining down by two points, but a last second shot from senior
Ashley Hoek would fall just off the mark, resulting in a 66-64 win for the Pioneers and their first ever Regional Championship.
Megan George and
Emily Libey led the Tigers with 17 points each. As she often does, Hoek recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 boards to go along with 4 blocks.
After a long 24 hours of playing the waiting game to see if they received an at-large bid to the NCCAA DII National Tournament, the Tigers received word late Sunday night that they were given the fourth and final at-large and the #5 overall seed!
The team will travel to Joplin, MO and Ozark Christian College a week from today for the 2022 NCCAA DII National Tournament, where they will face #4 seed Arlington Baptist University (TX) in the Elite Eight to start things off.
