Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Tigers upset #1 Great Lakes, advance to Regional Final

Wyoming, MI – The #4 seeded Grace Christian University men's basketball pulled the upset over #1 seed Great Lakes Christian College Friday evening, defeating the Crusaders 78-75 in a thriller at the Aldrich Athletic Center in the 2022 Mideast Regional semifinals.

The Tigers jumped out to a double digit lead in the first half and led by 10 at the break, but the talented Crusaders squad was able to steadily close in and tied things up with 1:48 remaining in the game. A huge basket from Zac Yorke and free throws down the stretch from Kellum Bridgeforth would give the Tigers a 78-75 lead with one chance left for Great Lakes, and the Tigers made the defensive stop on the final possession of the game to escape with the win.

The senior duo of Kellum Bridgeforth and Kierson Watts led the way for the Tigers, with Bridgeforth recording 25 points and a career-high 15 rebounds, and Watts pouring in 25 and pulling down 12 boards. Thomas Hill rounded out the Tigers in double figures with 11.

The Regional Championship will be played today at 3 pm against #2 seed Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg. The winner will earn an automatic bid to the 2022 NCCAA DII National Tournament in Joplin, MO.
