Joplin, MO – Despite a fantastic start and leading the majority of the first three quarters of the game in the NCCAA DII Elite Eight, the Grace Christian University women's basketball team fell to #4 Arlington Baptist College Wednesday afternoon, 86-75.
The Tigers sprinted out to a 25-16 lead and led by as many as eight points in the third quarter, but a talented group on the Patriots side turned up the defensive pressure and went on a run in the fourth to take the lead and keep it until the end.
Ashley Hoek, who was named 2
nd-Team All-American Tuesday night, led the Tigers with 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks.
Megan George,
Emily Libey, and
Ashlyn Wilkes all followed in double figures with 16, 15, and 13, respectively. Libey led the Tigers with 7 assists and 3 steals. Overall, the Tigers shot 54% from the field but committed 32 turnovers on the night.
The season will consist of either one or two more games, as Grace will enter the consolation bracket and face #8 Bob Jones University (SC) this morning at 11:00 am.
