Goshen, IN – It was a beautiful day for baseball Tuesday afternoon, and the Grace Tigers made their way to face Goshen College in Goshen, IN in a doubleheader.
Logan Hamstra (3-4, 2 RBI),
Dylan Thomas (3-4, 1 RBI),
Jared Garnaat (2-3, 1 R), and
AJ Scott (1-2, 2 RBI) all came through big at the plate for the Tigers in game one, but the Maple Leafs' early lead they had built was too much to overcome and the Tigers fell 17-5.
Game two would be the least amount of runs given up by the Tigers of the season (3), with
Riley Nieswender on the mound for 5 innings only allowing 3 earned runs and
Jared Garnaat pitching one scoreless inning. Unfortunately on the offensive end they were not able to match their output from game one, falling 3-1 when it was all said and done.
"We played one of our best games of the year today, and came up just short," said Grace Head Coach
Colton Wolfe. "But I am super proud of the guys for battling and giving themselves an opportunity to win a ball game. There were several big positives from today, and we're looking to continue building in the right direction down the homestretch of the season!"
The Tigers travel to Spring Arbor University for another doubleheader this Thursday starting at 1:00 pm.
