Midland, MI - The Men's Varsity team traveled to Midland on Tuesday night to take on NCAA Division II opponent, Northwood University. The only other time the two teams met was in 2018 where Grace was defeated by a margin of 23 points.
This time would prove to be much different as the Tigers played very good basketball in the first half, going into the locker room only down by 1 point, holding leads at multiple times throughout the half. Later in the second half, rebounding carried the Timberwolves to a larger lead, and though Grace kept it close, could only bring the deficit to 9 before the final buzzer sounded. Northwood won by a final of 79-70.
Ty Thiel led the offense with 17 points scored, followed by
Quay Humphries with 10 points. Many players contributed with double digit minutes, and Coach Krombeen felt the team played well as a collective unit.
The Tigers travel to Kalamazoo College on Wednesday night to take on the NCAA DIII Hornets at 7pm.
