Kalamazoo, MI - The Tigers and Hornets tipped off at the Anderson Athletic Center in Kalamazoo on Wednesday evening. Although Grace was able to make the first bucket, NCAA DIII Kalamazoo College was ready to fire back, as they managed to lead throughout the rest of the first half. The Tigers were down by 7 at the half, 29-36.
Midway through half two, Grace was able to catch up with the Hornets and tie it up 46-46. Despite keeping it close throughout the second half, the Hornets were able to pull away with the win, defeating the Tigers 72-83.
Grace Christian's
Ty Thiel scored 16 points, while
Melvin Frazier had 14. Ty Horky led the Hornets with 21 points.
"I thought we took a step back tonight," said Head Coach
Ryan Krombeen. "We didn't run our sets well at all, and we were lost too often in our defensive rotations. We have been talking about how we are so close to breaking through, but at some point, we need to stop being so close, and actually reach our full potential."
The Tigers are back in action this Saturday afternoon as they travel to Olivet Nazarene University for an exhibition game.
