Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Splits in Florida

Jacksonville, FL - After going 3-0 in Kentucky over the weekend, Grace's men's basketball team continued south to play two more games in Florida before coming back home for the start of second semester. The Tigers would face the Suns of Johnson University (FL) on Monday night, and the Eagles of Trinity Baptist College on Tuesday night.

Monday's game saw a continuation of the Kentucky magic, as Grace jumped out to a 15 point lead early in the first half. Though the Suns managed to bring things closer throughout the game, Grace finished the game strong and earned an 82-73 victory.

Ty Thiel and Zac Yorke led the scoring effort with 16 and 13 points respectively. Parker Nue also had a great game with a team-leading 7 rebounds and 11 points himself.

On the final day of their trip, Grace sought to go a perfect 5-0 on their trip, but the Eagles had different ideas. After a grueling first half with several lead changes, the score was locked 41-41 at half. Trinity pulled away as the second half led on, and the Tigers dropped this one by a final score of 79-90.

Ty Thiel and Bankeys Omari both had hot hands in the game, with Thiel scoring 22 points, and Omari with 19, going a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc. JoCorian Freeman also had a nice night, dropping 12 points, a season-high for himself.

The Tigers are slated to return home Wednesday night after a long bus ride, have a light practice Thursday, and get right back to the action on Friday at 7pm when they host Maranatha Baptist University at the Aldrich Athletic Center. Maranatha is currently 3-8 on the season heading into this regional matchup. Come out and support!
