Grand Rapids, MI - The Grace Tigers made the trip across town for a rivalry match up against Kuyper College on Saturday evening. The Tigers started out hot, jumping out in a 16-4 lead in the first five minutes. However, a strong Kuyper team fired right back, pulling ahead with less than 5 minutes remaining in the first half. The Tigers trailed 36-41 at the end of the half.
The second half proved to be a challenge for Grace, as Kuyper kept a tight hold on the lead. With about 8 minutes left of the second half, a three pointer by
Ethan Clason brought the Tigers within 3 points of tying it up. Kuyper, shooting 60%, refused to let Grace regain a lead and defeated the Tigers 70-83.
Parker Neu led the Tigers with 16 points and 6 rebounds, while Clason added 14 points.
Melvin Frazier scored 11 points and dished out 8 assists.
Up next for the men's basketball team is a huge rivalry matchup against NCCAA DII Great Lakes Christian College this Wednesday evening at 7pm.Â
