Grand Rapids, MI - The Grace Christian University track & field squads had a gritty performance at Calvin University on Saturday for the Knight Invitational, a meet that featured host Calvin, Adrian College, Cornerstone, Grand Valley, GRCC, Kalamazoo College, and Michigan State University's club team. Despite seasonable temperatures, the consistent 10-15 mph wind made for a less than warm day, but the Tigers were able to grind out some stout performances. Â
Men's Highlights:

Aidan Gansert (Fort Wayne, IN) placed 4th overall in shot put (11.33m), moved up to 2nd all-time in school history with a new personal best throw of 27.50m in discus, and broke his own school record in hammer with a heave of 30.34m.Â

In preparation for his upcoming decathlon appearance, Kent Herring (Evart, MI) had a solid effort in the 1500m, finishing in 4:51.84.

Angel Becerra (Allendale, MI) had a really solid and consistent day in three different events. Becerra threw his second-ever best toss in javelin (21.16m) and had a really good day in shot put (8.92m) and discus (25.80m)

Maty Temrowski (Fenton, MI) had a huge race in the 1500m, finishing with a new personal best time by 11 seconds (5:51.67).

Alyssa Gennety (Jackson, MI) continued her competitive streak with a new personal record in the 800m (2:50.06) and a strong race in the 1500m (5:41.84).Â
The Tigers have a really big week ahead of them as they will travel down to Terre Haute, IN on Wednesday evening for the Gibson Invitational at Indiana State University. The three-day meet will put the Tigers up against numerous NCAA division I and II schools and provide a great chance for amazing competition and efforts. On Thursday, April 18, Kent Herring will begin his first day of the men's decathlon competition with five different events (100m, long jump, shot put, high jump, 400m). Friday, April 19 will be Herring's second day of the decathlon (110m high hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, 1500m), as well as the start of the open events for the rest of the Grace team (hammer throw, javelin, & 5k). The final day of competition, Saturday, April 20, will contest the remaining field events (high jump, long jump, pole vault, shot put, discus) and all remaining running events and relays.Â
With only two meets remaining in their regular season, the Tigers are searching for big performances next week.
