Spring Arbor, MI - Led by their distance runners and three different school records for thrower
Aidan Gansert, the Grace Christian Track & Field teams had a big day at Spring Arbor University on Saturday for the Cougar Invite.Â
The Tigers found early success with good weather for an early April meet and solid competition against Alma College, Concordia University, Lansing Community College, Lawrence Tech, Siena Heights University, Southwestern Michigan Community College, and Spring Arbor.
Women's Highlights:

Alyssa Gennety (Jackson, MI) came within 8 seconds of the NCCAA automatic qualifying standard in the women's 5k, finishing with a new personal record time of 20:33.37. Gennety placed 4th overall in the event.

Maty Temrowski (Fenton, MI) made her debut in the 5k and immediately turned heads. Running a personal record time of 21:29.49, Temrowski methodically moved up through the field throughout the race and finished 6th overall.
Men's Highlights:

Aidan Gansert (Fort Wayne, IN) took the school record in javelin from teammate Kent Herring with a monster toss of 37.44m. Gansert also continued to better his previous school records in shot put (11.85m), placing 4th overall, and the hammer throw (29.69m).

Ben Bird (Allendale, MI) broke the outdoor track school record in the men's 5k in a time of 18:39.58. The previous record, established by Troy Sergey, had stood since 2017. Â
Next up for the Tigers is a local meet in Grand Rapids at Calvin University on Saturday (April 13). Hosted at the Gainey Athletic Complex (1661 E. Paris Ave.), running events will begin with the 10k at 10:30 AM with the remaining running events following a rolling schedule with the conclusion of the 3k steeplechase at 12 PM. Field events are scheduled to begin at 11:30 AM. This meet at Calvin will provide the only opportunity to view the Tigers in action in the Grand Rapids area this season.
