Wyoming, MI - Men's basketball finished last weekend with a home game on Saturday taking on the Alice Lloyd College Eagles. The Tigers honored their 4 seniors who would be playing their last game at the Aldrich Athletic Center. Brayden Gable, Devin Bartee, Keontae Richards, and Aiden Burns.
This would prove to be a back and forth battle as both teams would battle for momentum. The Tigers were able to take an early lead and hang on to it for the majority of the first half before Alice Lloyd began to close the gap. The Tigers would end up taking the lead into the locker room up 42-36.Â
The second half would prove to be more of the same. The Tigers would take a 6 point lead, but the Eagles quickly responded back with a quick run and went up by 1 with 14 minutes left in the game. The game would stay within 4 points all the way down the stretch with the Tigers up 3 with just over a minute left in regulation. Out of a timeout the Eagles were able to set up a game tying three and knocked it down knotting the game up at 80 a piece.Â
The Tigers would have several opportunities to win it in the last 30 seconds but weren't able to hit the winning shot sending the game into overtime. Alice Lloyd would open overtime on a 5-0 run and that would prove to be the difference in the game as the Tigers were unable to come back, falling 91-86.Â
Brayden Gable led the Tigers with 16 points and 9 rebounds. Keontae Richards recorded a double-double finishing with 14 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds. Aiden Burns also had a good afternoon with 14 points knocking down 4 threes.Â
The Tigers record moves to 13-12 on the year with just two games left in the regular season. The Tigers travel to Moody Bible on Thursday, and then head to Watertown, Wisconsin on Friday to take on the Maranatha Baptist Sabercats.
