Werschem, Ariza Named NCCAA 1st Team All-Americans, Petroelje All-Tournmanet Team

After the conclusion of the 2025 NCCAA National Tourmanent in Kissimmee, Florida, the NCCAA released the members of the All-American Teams.  The Grace Christian University Men's Soccer team had two Tigers named as 1st Team All-Americans, Logan Werschem and Jacobo Ariza.

Freshman Logan Werschem, an All-State standout who set records at MHSAA  soccer power Fruitport High School, continues to earn accolades as he became the first goalkeeper in Grace Chrsitian University history to earn this recognition as a freshman.  Logan joins previous Grace keepers as 1st Team All-Americans such as Mike Rimersma and Luis Vicario.  As a freshman, Logan logged 1,840 minutes, had 92 saves a GAA of 1.49 and 7 clean sheets.

Sophomore Jacobo Ariza earned a midfield spot on the All-American 1st Team after earning 2nd team honors in 2024.  Jacobo played in 16 matches for the Tigers scoring 6 goals and adding 3 assists.

With the entire team, both Tigers contributed to going undefeated Midwest Regional Play, crowning them MW Regional regular season champions, and completing the MW Regional double by winning the MW Regional Tournament, earning them a spot for the 7th consecutive year at the NCCAA National Championship Tournament.

Another notable post season award is saw Caden Petroelje named to the NCCAA National Championship All-Tournament Team.  The sophomore had an incredible tournament scoring two goals that were "goal of the tournament" worthy.

"I am really proud of both Logan and Jacobo.  I know each of them give immediate credit to their teammates, and that is what is special about them.  Logan was a major impact for us.  He brought a maturity and composure well beyond his years and that served our team well.  He is a fearless in goal.  I have a great appreciation for everything he gives and sacrifices for the team.  Logan is as dependable as they come.  Jacobo is a special talent that just missed out on 1st team his freshman year.  He was a true control factor in the midfield, and brought a fire and passion to the game.  I am happy for him to receive this award as a sophomore and it is well deserved.  Jacobo has a been a privileged to have had for two years.  I also was thrilled for Caden to be named to the All-Tournament Team.  He had a phenomenal tournament, scoring two beautiful goals, but also gave an effort that was deserving in itself.  We saw a lot of it during the regular season, so close in these moments where it all came together in Florida.  I know this will be a big boost going into his junior year in the fall."-Coach Buchanan
