Box Score 2 Circleville, OH – The Grace women's basketball team opened their season at Ohio Christian University, facing the host school on Friday night and then Ohio University-Lancaster on Saturday night. It was a tale of two different games for the Lady Tigers. They would finish the weekend 1-1, struggling against the Trailblazers of OCU in an 84-50 setback before returning on Saturday with a great team effort to defeat Ohio-Lancaster, 72-53.
Four Tigers would finish in double figures scoring in Saturday's win, led by senior
McKenzie McCord with 16 points. Sophomores
Baylee Draper and
Miranda Carlson added 15 and 14, while freshman
Brianna Lovegrove added 11 points on the night. McCord also led the Tigers in assists and steals with 6 and 4, respectively. The Tigers were outrebounded by the Trailblazers on Friday by double-digits, but had a great effort on the boards on Saturday night, outrebounding Ohio-Lancaster 36-22.
"We played much better defense and had balanced scoring Saturday night," commented Head Coach
Rich Renzema. "We moved the ball much better."
The Tigers will return to their home court next Tuesday against local NAIA school Cornerstone University at 6:00 pm in the Aldrich Athletic Center.
