Wyoming, MI – The Lady Tigers came out of the gates firing on all cylinders Saturday afternoon, jumping out to a 35-24 lead on the #2 team in the NCCAA DII, Kentucky Christian University. However, the Lady Knights would bounce back at the end of the second quarter, with four straight three point shots to take a 39-38 lead headed into the break.
The Lady Tigers played some more inspired basketball in the third quarter, taking the lead and then bursting to extend it to 15 points at 68-53 with one quarter left to play. Junior Jewel Ro caught fire and knocked down 3 straight three-point shots at the end of the Lady Tigers' run.
The Lady Knights brought intense defensive pressure and made one last run, but Grace was able to hold them off at the end of the game, knocking down an impressive 19-20  shots from the free throw line in the final period to seal the win. The quartet of McKenzie McCord, Megan George, Miranda Carlson, and Jewel Ro combined for 88 of the Lady Tigers' 94 points in their 94-84 upset.
McCord scored 24 points while dishing out 11 assists and pulling down 7 rebounds. Carlson added 23 points and 10 boards. George and Ro both knocked down 5 three-point shots on the day, finishing with 22 and 19 points, respectively.
Grace, now 8-13 on the year, returns to the floor Tuesday evening in Berrien Springs, MI against Andrews University.
