Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Harris' game winner lifts Tigers to thrilling home victory

Wyoming, MI – The Grace Christian University women's basketball team pulled out their first victory of the season Saturday night in an instant classic against the Trinity Christian College Trolls (NAIA DII/NCCAA I).

Things were looking good for the Tigers after sophomore Bre Harris calmly knocked down two clutch free throws with less than 15 seconds on the clock to put Grace up 65-63.  The Trolls subsequently knocked down a deep three point shot to take a 66-65 lead, but left 7 seconds on the clock to allow a rebuttal from the Tigers.  The team looked to Harris to make a play, and that she did, driving hard to the basket around a couple Troll defenders for the game winning basket.

Three Tigers finished in double digit scoring, led by Megan George with 16 points on 6-9 shooting from the field.  Harris added 14 points, 9 assists, 6 steals, and 4 rebounds.  Emily Libey hit a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc and finished with 13 points.  Ashley Hoek led the Tigers with 8 rebounds and 4 blocks.

"I love this group of players," said Assistant Coach Ashley Xiong Vang. "We have been hit with many obstacles this year already and it is only 3 games in.  We have had multiple players step up their game to help contribute in what they do best."

After the 67-66 win, the Tigers move to 1-2 on the season heading into another home game on Tuesday night against Lourdes University (NAIA DII) at 7:00 pm.
