Both tennis teams fall just short at Olivet College

Battle Creek, MI – Both Grace Christian University tennis teams were in action Saturday at Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek, taking on the Olivet College Comets (NCAA DIII).

The men's tennis team stormed out to a 3-1 lead after a couple forfeit wins at #6 singles and #3 doubles and a dominant win by #5 singles for freshman Hank Schemmel on Saturday afternoon and were in sights of their first match win.  The Comets would secure wins in every other match of the day in dramatic fashion, winning 6-3 with 4 of the wins coming in a third tiebreaker set at #2 doubles, #2 singles, #3 singles, and #4 singles.

Senior Elenrae Befus became the first Grace Tennis player ever to win in both singles and doubles on the same day, winning at #2 doubles with sister Regan Befus and cruising to another win at #3 singles.  Unfortunately for the Tigers, despite battling hard at every other flight and coming within a few games of a couple more points, they ultimately fell 7-2.

The Tigers have a match-free week and will be back in action in Ohio on April 5th and 6th, taking on Heidelberg University and Ohio Christian University.
