Grove City, OH – After battling hard and working out the kinks as a new tennis program for the past year, the Grace Christian University men's and women's tennis programs has hit a milestone worth celebrating, recording their first win on the men's side and a tie on the women's side against Ohio Christian University after a gutsy performance from start to finish.

To start the Ohio road trip on Friday evening, both teams fell 8-1 to Heidelberg University with the lone winners coming at #3 doubles for the men (Kaleb Underwood and Hank Schemmel) and #1 doubles for the women (Mikyala Reynolds and Ashleigh Welty).  Both of these duos would follow up Friday's performance with another win on Saturday afternoon to finish 2-0 for the weekend.

On Saturday the Tiger men would go on to defeat the Ohio Christian University Trailblazers by a score of 5-4, and the women would tie 3-3 with both teams limited to only 4 available players.

Lake Serba and Caleb Anderson would both go 2-0 on Saturday, winning at #1 doubles and then Serba at #1 singles and Anderson at #4.  The other win for the Tigers came from Nick Pilieci, in a dominant performance at #2 singles.

Freshman Amiah Lake is starting to come into her own, losing in a heartbreaking tiebreaker at #4 singles on Friday and coasting to victories on Saturday afternoon at #4 singles and #2 doubles with partner Hailey Petty.  Both Lake and Petty played up from their normal spots in the absence of Regan and Elenrae Befus.

It was a special weekend for Welty, Lake, Petty, Serba, Pilieci, and Underwood, all coming home with their first ever collegiate tennis wins after countless hours of hard work.

The women's team will take the courts against Cornerstone University on Tuesday evening at 5:30 pm at Davenport University's tennis facility.  Both Grace squads will be back in action on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 pm at Concordia University – Ann Arbor.
