Grace splits games over the weekend with Ohio Christian

Circleville, OH – The Grace Christian University women's basketball team enjoyed a solid weekend in Ohio on the hardcourt, splitting back-to-back road games with NAIA Ohio Christian University on Friday and Saturday.

The Tigers found their groove on Friday, building a lead in the first quarter and extending it to double-digits at the beginning on the second half. They led by as many as 18 points in the fourth quarter before a run to finish the game for the Trailblazers would ultimately trim the final score to Grace 74, OCU 67.

Junior Bre VanVleet had an efficient night from the floor, making 9 of 12 field goals for 24 points to go with a team-high 9 rebounds, 6 steals, and 4 assists. Emily Libey added 14 points for the Tigers.
In Saturday afternoon's match-up with the same opponent, the Tigers found themselves down double-digits in the fourth period, but flipped a switch and outscored the Trailblazers 23-10 in the final 10 minutes to force overtime.  Despite the valiant effort, the Tigers would run out of steam in the extra time, falling 88-70 when it was all said and done.

VanVleet continued her hot streak with 24 points and 7 steals, while Ashley Hoek recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

"We came in with energy a different mindset of pushing the ball and scoring in transition for both games," said Coach Ashley Xiong Vang. "Overall, our players played hard this weekend and I couldn't have asked for more. Every game you want your players to go out and give 100% this weekend they gave 110% and I am very proud of them all, it was a team effort from every player."

The Tigers move to 4-9 on the year and head to Tennessee this upcoming weekend for two games against NCCAA regional opponent Welch College and one game against Johnson University-Tennessee.
