Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Third quarter surge not enough for Tigers against Trinity Christian

Palos Heights, IL - The Grace Christian women's basketball team continued their out-of-state stretch Thursday night on the road at Trinity Christian College (NCCAA DI). The Tigers were within striking distance for the first three quarters, and headed into the fourth with a single-digit deficit. Unfortunately the Tigers would run out of steam in the final period and they went cold from the field, shooting only 4-16 in the final ten minutes, resulting in a 75-53 setback.

Megan George was the only Grace scorer in double figures scoring with 24 points on the night. Bre VanVleet followed with 9 points and team-highs of 14 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals.

"I'm proud of the way our team is adjusting to a new defense but we still have lots to work on in regards to ball pressure and quicker rotations," said Coach Ashley Xiong Vang. "However, these ladies are so relentless and even being down at half time they came up with energy and surged us to within 4 points at one point in the 3rd quarter. Our offense struggled this game with making shots we normally would make shooting only 31% and that's what I think kept us out of this game. Overall I am proud with the improvements day by day and I like the direction in which we are moving."

This weekend consists of a trip to Campbellsville University-Harrodsburg, where the Tigers travel to Kentucky to face the Pioneers in a very important NCCAA DII regional match-up. After Saturday's game, they return home Monday a game at Spring Arbor University – their first game in the state of Michigan since November 9.
