The Grace Christian University men's and women's tennis teams kick off their 2021 spring season Saturday at Olivet College at Minges Creek Athletic Club in Battle Creek, MI. It is a long anticipated season since the 2020 season was cancelled on the eve of the team's opener last March after the team had been together and practicing for a couple months prior.
Mikyala Reynolds,
Ashleigh Welty,
Elizabeth Simmons,
Ellie Glass, and
Amiah Lake all return for the Tigers' women's squad, while they added two strong pieces to the puzzle in
Olivia Rachoy and
Gabby Wright for this upcoming year.
The men's team returns
Jared Lowder and
Bryce Hoeker, while adding
Zane Draper and
Cameron Staal, who also are a part of the Tigers' basketball program.
After their first match against Olivet, they will host their first ever indoor match at Premier Athletic and Tennis Club in Grandville next Friday, March 26
th against Concordia-Ann Arbor. They will close out the year traveling to Ohio for a match against Lourdes University on April 8, and then to Indiana to face Bethel College and Manchester University on April 10. In addition to everything locked in on the schedule, the team still may face Cornerstone University's reserve squad at some point throughout the season. The men's and women's teams will be traveling and competing at the same location for each match.
