Box Score 2 Sylvania, OH – The Grace Christian University tennis team traveled to the state of Ohio Thursday afternoon for their first ever match-up against NAIA Lourdes University.
The men's team put up a great effort at all flights playing against a few of the top opponents they have seen all season, but in the end were outmatched and fell 7-0.
The women were one flight away from their first win of the season and the third win in program history, but fell to the Gray Wolves 5-4 despite some very close matches in which the ball did not bounce their way.
Amiah Lake continues to impress, extending her unbeaten streak in singles with a win at the #4 slot.
"Our doubles teams on the women's side played well in their first action together, with most games going to the final point, but unfortunately fell 6-4 in each. It felt great to compete and be right in the mix for our first win of the year," said Head Coach
Cory Jamieson. "On the guys' end, we played some of the best opponents I've seen at this level and the final score doesn't reflect how they played - they rose to the level of their competition in flashes and played some of their best tennis to-date."
The Tigers cap off their abbreviated season with a trip to Mishawaka, Indiana Saturday to face Bethel University on both the men's and women's side, followed by another men's match against Manchester University.
