Box Score 2 Wyoming, MI – The Grace Tigers volleyball team split two games Wednesday evening at the Aldrich Athletic Center, competing closely with Aquinas College but suffering their first loss of the season to the Saints, and finishing things off with an exciting 3-1 win over Kalamazoo Valley later on in the night.
The Tigers' were well within reach against Aquinas in their first two sets, falling 27-25 and 25-22 to start the match. The Saints then rode their momentum for a 25-18 win in the third set to go home with the 3-0 victory.
The first three sets of the match with the Kalamazoo Valley Cougars were won convincingly, with the Tigers snagging two of them. The fourth set was a different story, with the intensity and excitement level reaching new heights in the gymnasium as each team seemed to match the other point-for-point. The Tigers were able to prevail in the end 27-25 to cap off a solid night overall and move to 3-1 on the season.
"Our mentality was the reason for our success in both games," said Grace Head Coach
Kerri Shultz. "Each girl contributed intensity with stability which lead to controlling our side of the court no matter what was happening. Our offense was excellent as well, which is something we have pushed to execute in games instead of just in practice. I'm so proud the team played to their potential without letting up for two hard matches in a row."
Megan Postma led the Tigers in the second match with 13 kills.
Morgan Martin added 8 kills, 3 aces, and 16 digs. Dana Du Chemin recorded 23 assists, and

The Tigers return to the court next Wednesday for their first games away from home against Olivet College and Kalamazoo College (both played at Kalamazoo College).
