Wyoming, MI - Grace Christian University Volleyball is excited to announce the commitment of Laura Maartense of Zeeland, Michigan, to the incoming recruiting class.
Maartense, a 5'9" outside hitter and middle blocker from Zeeland East High School, will wear jersey number 6 for the Tigers while pursuing a degree in Business. Throughout her high school career, Laura competed in volleyball, basketball, and track and field, earning All-Conference honors in volleyball during her sophomore year at Libertas Christian School and All-Conference recognition in track during her junior year at Zeeland East.
Head Coach Shultz is enthusiastic about what Laura will bring to the program.
"Laura has an instantly recognizable energy and purpose to her love of volleyball. Her enthusiasm and athleticism are going to add to our culture and competitiveness!"
Laura chose Grace Christian University because of the strong sense of community and Christ-centered environment she experienced during her visit.
"When I visited Grace, I felt a huge feeling of belonging and could really see how much God is integrated into the community, sports, and education," said Maartense. "I loved how close-knit and personal the community was, almost like family. I know I will be challenged to be my best, reminded that my purpose is to glorify God, and supported by everyone around me."
The Grace Christian University family is excited to welcome Laura and looks forward to seeing her impact both on the court and in the classroom.
