1st Team All-State Ben Pollock Signs With Tigers

Wyoming, MI - Grace Men's Soccer has added one of the area's top talents in Western Michigan Christian High School's Ben Pollock. Ben's parents, Ed and Sarah, his siblings Ethan, Nora, Eve, Zeke and Charlie, along with WMC coaches, teammates, friends, faculty, and staff were all present to show support at his signing. As a high schooler, Ben played varsity as an 8th grader to 10th grade at Calvary Christian High School, spent one year homeschooled, which he played for the nation's top homeschool team, the West Michigan Heat. His senior year, he played for state powerhouse Western Michigan Christian High School.

Ben's impact was immediate as he proved to be a difference maker, scoring 19 goals along with 18 assists, helping WMC in being crowned district champions, regional champions, and state champions. His excellent play earned Ben First Team All-Conference, First Team All-District, First Team All-Region and First Team All-State honors. He was named WMC's Offensive MVP for the season. Warrior Coach Ben Buursma stated he was blessed to have Ben for a year and would have loved him for four. "It was great coaching him as a Warrior and it's exciting to see him take his game to the next level at Grace Christian," said Buursma.

Ben also played an elite level of club soccer for SCOR-Meulensteen under Grant Oosse and for Michigan ODP.

"I had first seen Ben play for the West Michigan Heat in Tennessee where he was nothing but phenomenal," stated Coach Buchanan. "He is a technical player and extremely creative. He can create for himself and for his teammates. He is a player that can get goals from midfield. He has a great strike. One thing that stood out to me watching Ben play was how he could do everything at top speed. What a player. He was exceptional at WMC and instrumental in helping them win the MHSAA State Title. Recruiting Ben was a joy. He is a very well known player in the area not only because of his abilities, but also because of who he is.  What stood out to me was how his opponents spoke very highly of sportsmanship and his attitude on the pitch, which is testament to his character and a reflection of Christ in his life. During this process I am thankful for Coach Buursma, Coach McFarland and Coach Oosse, who were all wonderful with the amount of insight and how highly they spoke of Ben and the Pollock family. We are all thrilled that Ben is a Tiger."
