Albion, MI - Last week the Grace Christian University Women's Tennis program played their first match on the road against the Britons of Albion College. Although the lady tigers fell short they showed great potential. Our No. 1 doubles Krysten Nolen and Taylor Myckowiak were able to get a game off Albion during their 8-Game Pro-Set ending it 1-8. Our newcomers from No. 2 doubles lost 0-8 but gained valuable match experience. On the singles end a notable performance from our Sophomore No.1 Singles Krysten Nolen. She was down in her first set 1-6 but fought back in the second set by making a few adjustments and ending the match 3-6. Our other singles players fell short but fought hard and even took their opponents to deuce in multiple games.
A quote from Assistant Coach Mikyala Reynolds, "Our program is pretty young and a few are new to tennis. The blessing is that we will be able to work and walk alongside these student-athletes for the duration of their college career. We've already seen tremendous growth from our players since their first practice. This is a group of ladies that are competitive, hungry to improve, and eager to excel. The team is looking forward to getting back to practice and preparing for our next match."
The Tigers will be back in action home on April 6th in a dual meet against Concordia Ann Arbor and St. Francis University at Grandville High School.
