Box Score
Wyoming, MI – The Grace Bible women's soccer team dominated on the field Saturday morning, defeating Rockford University, 7-0. This may have not been the most impressive outcome from the game though, as the women's soccer team was able to plan an event for breast cancer awareness that raised over $1,300!
The Tigers led 4-0 at the half, and in between the two periods junior
Erika Bayak chopped a good portion of her hair off while a handful of other players had to die their hair pink as a result of the breast cancer awareness funds surpassing the threshold set for halftime. The Tigers continued their stellar play into the final period, putting in three more goals and holding on defense for the shutout.
Freshman
Brandy Weaver had two goals and an assist, while seniors
Debbie Pekel and
Autumn Befus both recorded a goal and two assists. Freshmen
Megan McFarland and
Haley Threatt each contributed one save in their split time in the goal.
On behalf of the women's soccer team, a huge thank you goes out to all the supporters for this event! The cause is very close to home for the team as senior captain
Debbie Pekel's mother Jessica is currently fighting the fight, and the generosity shown was incredible.
