JOPLIN, Mo. — Kentucky Christian limited Grace Bible to two field goals in the third quarter, built a 18-point lead and cruised to a 64-47 victory and third place in the NCCAA Women's Division II National Basketball Championship Saturday evening at the Ozark Christian College Multipurpose Building.
Sophomore guard Alivia Bierley scored 14 of her game-high 26 in the second half to go along with 10 rebounds as the Knights capped a 21-11 season.
Paige Warren, a 5-foot-3 junior guard from Frenchburg, Ken., drilled 6 of 10 3-point attempts, two treys in each of the second, third and fourth quarters for 18 points.
Kentucky Christian outscored Grace 16-3 in the first eight minutes of the third quarter to open a 49-32 lead. Grace trimmed the deficit to nine on Anna Iwaniw bucket in the paint with 6:36 left in the game, but Kentucky quickly responded with a 9-2 answer to open an 18-point lead.
Sophomore guard McKenzie McCord led the Tigers with 17 points, freshman guard Jewel Ro added 11 and Iwaniw, a senior forward, grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with six points.
The Lady Tigers end a historic season at as the fourth place team in the NCCAA DII, with a final record of 24-8.
