Cincinnati, OH - The Lady Tigers soccer team traveled southeast to play the University of Cincinnati-Clermont Saturday and came away with a 2-0 victory. Senior forward
Autumn Befus started the scoring 10 minutes into the game from a feed by
Erika Bayak. The goal was part of a beautiful six pass sequence that started in the GBC defensive end. The game was mainly contained to the middle of the field for the next 72 minutes, as both teams struggled to generate scoring chances. With 8 minutes to go, freshman
Maddie Brown collected a great free kick pass from sophomore
Alex Pelley and beat the UC keeper to secure the win. It was the first career goal for Brown.
Freshman goalkeeper
Haley Threatt made 6 key saves and got the shutout win in goal. Pelley and sophomore
Elenrae Befus were very strong in the center of the Tiger's defense, and senior
Debbie Pekel was solid in the midfield.
The Tigers have a busy week coming up, starting Tuesday at 7 pm at Cornerstone, following up Thursday at home vs Andrews at 4 pm, then capping off the week with a 1 pm kickoff in Kentucky vs NCCAA regional opponent Kentucky Christian.
"Making a day trip to Cincinnati is tough, but we came out and played a good game," commented Head Coach
Scott Teesdale. "We have a tough week coming up and the team is ready for the challenges ahead."
