Box Score 2 Gallatin, TN – After starting the 2019 season off 0-3, the Grace Christian University women's soccer has now won four straight after a couple wins down south in the Nashville, Tennessee area at Welch College. The Tigers first defeated the host, Welch, 7-4 on Friday, following it up with a 4-1 win over Johnson University (TN) on Saturday. They remain undefeated against NCCAA competition now, at 2-0 on the year.
The offensive duo of senior Maddie Brown and sophomore Jennie Sue Pilieci was fantastic throughout both games on the weekend, combining for all 11 Tiger goals. Brown scored 4 and Pilieci scored 3 in the first game, and they both followed that up with 2 goal/2 assist performances in the Saturday afternoon match against the Johnson Royals.
"We had a great trip to Tennessee and it was nice to come away with wins," commented Grace Head Coach Scott Teesdale. "We were a little shorthanded but everyone stepped up and contributed in very hot conditons. We started a little slow both days but didn't get rattled despite falling behind. I thought Saturday against Johnson was our best game of the season. Alicia Contreras switched to Center Back for this game and was dominant after playing 90 minutes at Center Mid Friday. Haley Threatt, Ashley Glass, and Jessica Walker were very strong in the midfield. Now it will be nice to be home for a little while!"
Full statistics will be posted as soon as they are received from the host team.
Grace returns to their home field Wednesday against Bluffton University at 5:00 pm.
