The 2020-21 basketball season is upon us. The JV team has already seen action on Thursday night against Grace College (IN), and the women's varsity team kicks their year off next Monday at home against Grace College (IN). The men's varsity team starts things off next Friday at the Aldrich Athletic Center against Campbellsville University Harrodsburg. Follow the links below to see each team's schedule as it stands currently.
Women's Varsity Schedule
Head Coach CB Long on the upcoming year: "Last year ended abruptly and with a sour taste in our mouth, unfinished business, with opportunity left on the table. This year our ladies are even more focused to advance and represent our University and our Savior, with pride and honor. Our schedule is tough this year, with almost 20 of our games against colleges or universities who offer athletic scholarships. Yet we hope to be able to produce and succeed in the face of adversity, rather than fall victim to it. With a few new faces, both transfers and incoming freshman, along with a solid returning group, our goals are set higher than ever. We certainly will miss those seniors who have moved on, but our returning group is ready to step up and be challenged. Prays for good health and exciting basketball, all while maintaining a safe environment, seem to be the topic of all coaches around the nation."
JV Men's Schedule
Head Coach Ryan Krombeen on the upcoming year: "With what has been such a crazy year in 2020, myself and my players cannot wait to get back out on the court to get back to a sense of normalcy. This year will promise to be an exciting one, as we return 7 players, more than any we've ever returned from a past season. Our leadership and maturity are big strengths to this team.
We also bring in 9 new players to this year's roster, and every one of them adds a different element to the team. We aren't as big size wise as in years past, but we hope to make up for it with athleticism and shooting. This season will have more bumps in the road than most, dealing with the virus, but our players and coaching staff are ready to do whatever it takes to have the best season we possibly can."
Varsity Men's Schedule
Head Coach Gary Bailey on the upcoming year: "This has been a trying year for scheduling as you can imagine. Everyone is trying to keep a full schedule as we navigate this uncertain season. Grace has dedicated itself to do everything we can to give our student athletes full seasons and a great experience. Our student athletes have worked hard on their craft and worked extra hard to insure the healthiest season we can. We have a very young team playing a very strong schedule. We are looking forward to the challenges this season. We play a strong schedule with great NAIA and NCAA play. Our NCCAA schedule has many teams that finished in the final Top Ten poll including Randall University, Great Lakes Christian College, Faith College. The team has worked hard for the last month and we are ready to get going."
