Box Score Ankeny, IA – The Tigers escaped with a win in their first of two bouts against Faith Baptist Bible College on Thursday, thanks to a golden goal four minutes into overtime off the leg of
Hannah Heyboer, which skimmed an Eagles defender into the corner of the net.
Both teams struggled to get anything going offensively throughout the game, resulting in a 0-0 tie in the first 90 minutes of play. The golden goal lifted the Tigers to their fourth straight win and their eight shutout victory of the season.
"The girls did a nice job of battling today everyone on the team contributed and we defended really well," said Grace Head Coach
Mike Riemersma. "Not having having your leading scorer creates some different challenges (referring to
Jennie Sue Pilieci). We have been moving some girls around to try and manufacture some scoring opportunities. The girls have been really open and flexible with moving around and trying different things until we can get JS back. That's all a coach can ever ask. I'm really proud of the effort they brought today. A great TEAM win."
The Tigers and Eagles are right back at it again today, facing off on the same field at 2:00 pm.
