Box Score
Grand Rapids, MI – The Grace Tigers traveled across town to the grand Van Noord Arena Wednesday to take on a determined Calvin College Knights team. The Knights were looking for redemption for a home loss last season to the Tigers and they got it, coming out victorious, 92-70.
Grace would come out of the gates on fire, as freshman
Brandon Winchester-Jones and sophomore
Austin Jackson combined for 19 quick points in the first 10 minutes of the game to contribute to an early Tiger lead. The Knights would have an answer for many of Grace's attempts to pull away, and eventually at the end of the first half they would take advantage of a Tiger cold streak and take a 11-point lead heading into the break. Grace could not turn things around in the second half, resulting in the 22-point setback.
Winchester-Jones led the Tigers with 13 points, followed by senior
Jared Bradford with 12 and big men
Bernard Smith and
Austin Jackson with 11 apiece. The Tigers were uncharacteristically outrebounded 44-31 by the Knights.
The Tigers return to the hardcourt this Saturday against another team determined for redemption, Spring Arbor University, after the Tigers defeated the Cougars in their last match-up in 2015.
