Box Score Wyoming, MI – After being down for the majority of the game against Judson University Monday night, the Grace Tigers stormed back in the final six minutes to escape with a 72-71 home victory.
The first 34 minutes of the game were not exactly dominated by the Judson Eagles, but they continuously held their lead and were able to extend it to double-digits with only six minutes remaining. Some clutch play from big men
Austin Jackson and
Bernard Smith, paired with a big three point shot from
Adam Kregel, would pave the way for
Caleb Anderson to hit a go-ahead three with 20 seconds remaining in the game. Subsequently, the Tigers would make the pivotal stop on the defensive end to seal the 72-71 win.
"We didn't execute what we had planned for the game in the first half and the start of the second," commented head coach
Gary Bailey. "I'm proud of how the guys overcame the deficit and adjusted in the final minutes. They fought hard for this win."
Jackson finished with a game-high 24 points, followed by front court mate Smith, who dominated the offensive glass, finishing with 17 points and 17 rebounds.
The Tigers leave for the sunshine state today, as they will participate in the Johnson University South Classic that will kick-off this upcoming Thursday at 7:00 pm vs. Johnson & Wales University in Kissimmee, Florida.
